The Sun Is My Girl

Colorado’s Candy Claws take inspiration from the seas with their new album In the Dream of the Sea Life. With swirling waves of sounds recorded of the shores of seas of Italy and the Phillipines, this girl/boy duo dreamed up a shimmering collection of acquatic songs. With whispering vocals like Iron and Wine, Candy Claws create experimental pop with melodic transitions that slip into one another perfectly.

The Sun is My Girl switches between quiet ambience and distorted noise with a sleepy harmony between the male and female vocals. ‘Catomaran’ plays with different instrumentation, building like a crescendo then falling back to stripped vocals ending with the clamoring of seashell sounds and running water. The Sea Life is a beautiful journey in the open seas with sails set to nowhere. This is a lullaby kind of album.
