Blessed Feathers —

I’ve been listening to Blessed Feathers, “From the Mouths of the Middle Class” lately, and if you haven’t picked up this record you should do so now, because it’s great. It was released in late September, while I was still in Minneapolis and for reasons unknown I totally missed their show, and I’m pretty disappointed, because thanks to the internet, I call these guys my friends. I’m actually pretty excited about an upcoming collaboration between myself and Donivan Berube that I hope to tell you all about soon.

I just put their song “Our Love Was Born in a Factory” on my fall mix- it’s definitely a standout track on the album, there’s this hollowness to it. The two-part harmonies gorgeously swell and fall. There’s an emotive weight to it all- which is surprising if you’ve ever talked to the band. They’re just about the nicest musicians from the Midwest, and that’s saying a lot.

Also, remember that kickstarted I posted of theirs? Well, they reached their goal to purchase a van! Thanks to everyone who chipped in.
