Amazing show happening tonight at Soda Bar, featuring Ganglians, Little Deadman and Cuckoo Chaos presented by Sezio. Zack played me some Ganglians last night at Habitat House and I didn’t even recognize them, it’s been such a long while since they’ve put anything out, maybe that’s why their latest release is aptly titled “Still Living”. Here’s a rundown of what you can expect for tonight –

Little Deadman- they’ve got the perfect blend of spooky surfer punk and a hazy coastal sound. There’s little information out on the band besides their bandcamp EP “Shooting Seagulls”. My favorite track off the EP is Post Helado Madness- a heavy blend of distortion and hauntedly frantic ‘la la las’. Anticipating a full length from them by early next year.

Cuckoo Chaos- has been making a name for themselves ever since Tom Windish scooped them up and had them on a regular touring rotation alongside legends like Anna Calvi. Typically compared to Vampire Weekend, the band has a layered, tropical vibe. Whenever I’ve seen them, I’ve simply enjoyed watching them- they don’t have any ‘hits’ but they’re really great musicians, and extraordinarily humble, nice guys. Their EP “Woman” comes out via Lefse on Sept 13th.

Ganglians- there hasn’t been much from Ganglians since I first started this blog, actually- but they’re coming out with Still Living on August 23rd via Lefse, and I’d say that’s an understatement. From the sounds of it- musically – they’re thriving. Sonically, psychedellic, tropical, and complex. Really excited for their release.
