Parallel Worlds, Parallel Lives
This weekend I watched a documentary film called - it’s not new, it was made back in 2007, but my friend Andrea and I watched it after I started talking about this conversation I had with my boyfriend about Quantum Physics. She told me about this documentary that follows rontman on a search to understand his deceased father, and his legacy. Mark Oliver Everett is the son of Hugh Everett III- the radical creator of the quantum physics theory of parallel universes.
It’s more of an exploration in relating with his distant father, than it is him understanding his theories. In understanding his father’s own humanity, or the reason why he was that way, he comes to a deeper sense of peace about his father and sees him as a man who was ahead of his time, misunderstood. If you have an extra hour or so, check out this film. For EELS fans, it’s especially interesting.
