Last night I got a chance to hangout with J Irvin Dally last night when he came through San Diego on a mini tour with Garrett Pierce. We took them out for burritos and met up with them at Bar Pink for a free show. Its cool to see how much he’s grown since I first found out about him last year. He’s been a huge supporter of ours by playing some IC events- including the SXSW Silver Series and the LA 25 event.

There’s just something really unique about Jordan. He’s got this nostalgic style, this jazz tone in his voice, this extraordinary range and weighty lyricism. He’s got that beautiful sadness that comes out while he’s playing- something built through years of travelling, Minnesota-Colorado-California-and wherever else he told me. I really believe in what he’s doing and I hope he continues on, touring more, writing more, and making periodic stops in San Diego to hang again and catch up. Check out his equally extraordinary tourmate Garrett Pierce too! He played this Sam Cooke cover that just ruined me.

He’s also got a limited edition 7″ vinyl “Sunroom/Teething” out on July 12 via Pretty Blue Presents.

July 7 – Los Angeles, CA – Hotel Cafe
July 8 – San Francisco, CA – Hotel Utah
July 9 – Davis, CA – Sophia’s Thai Kitchen
July 11 – Seattle, WA – High Dive
July 12 – Portland, OR – The Waypost
