The Mixtape Series // The Wooden Sky Mix 8.0

is quite honestly one of Canada’s best bands. They’re also one of the nicest. Their last album ‘If I Don’t Come Home You’ll Know I’m Gone’ doesn’t wear one bit after repetition, there is always something new to find, a certain inflection in their voices, harmonies, violins, jangling of some kind. The songs are stories you wish to be told again, they’re the movie scenes you never tire of and the old friends you are bound to in unexplainable ways. They seem to tour for eternity and will play to anyone who will have them, and they possess that rare soul that Springsteen and Neil Young and The Byrds had.
Their reputation as music libraries held true when I invited Andrew to make a mix for the series- he delivered, with the finest collection of nostalgia this series has ever seen (can I say that? sure why not). But guys, it’s really really good. In fact, I held onto it secretly for a long while during the end of the summer, and I’d ride my bike and watch the sun dip below the buildings thinking everything was just about as simple as these ageless love songs. If there’s any mix you should grab, let it be this one, it will not disappoint- much like it’s creator. Thanks Andrew!
