Yellow Ostrich :: Fade Cave EP

Nada Alic

Thanks Andrea for introducing me to Yellow Ostrich. How have I only heard about him now? Yellow Ostrich plays emotional bedroom rock that is absolute genius and nothing less. His latest EP was recorded with nothing more than his voice and a drum machine, and it resulted in a hymnal collection of looped harmonies, that are stunningly moving to the steady rhythm of a drum machine. It sounds like there are African-inspired melodies in songs like In the Past I Was an Astronaut. My favorite track is Fog, because of it’s simplicity, ask he asks about life after death in a childlike way, with haunted layers that make you feel like you’ve died and are floating in the clouds. I’ll Run sounds like it borrows it’s harmonies from Local Natives or follow bedroom recorded Levek. It’s a standout EP that’ll keep my rather short attention for some time to come. I’m excited about this one. The best part is it’s for FREE.
