I know everyone’s all over this but I can never resist the opportunity to post a GIF.. I’m pumped on the new MIA record, /\/\/\Y/\, which was inspired by death threats to her son, according to The Huffington Post where she also says the album is a mixture of, death, babies, destruction and powerlessness. I think she’s taken all the elements of jungle beats, keyboards, chainsaws?, electro-pop, reggae, that is both thematically political and fluffy with tracks like XXXO. I recently heard about the Jay-Z remix, and I’m not sure if he’s not into the track, yet felt the need to remix it, or if I’m just misinterpreting his lyrics,”Comin’ up M-I-M-I-M-I-A/Semi sprayed, you’re in my way/I’m gonna be who I’m gonna be/I’m just a boy from the hood what you want from me.”
