kings of animals
The sun was a warm welcome this morning, finally making it’s appearance after a week’s worth of apocalyptic storms in California- and I rode my bike around listening to some new stuff I wanted to share with you guys. I’ve cheated nature, you know- leaving Canada during it’s cruelest months- I’ll be due for a tornado sometime soon so that the universe can balance itself out. But for now, I’m enjoying the rays like a spoiled child complaining about sunburns.
The following bands are dedicated to my friend, Andrew Collins for being an awesome videochat friend with only SOME OF THE BEST stories to tell me.
Warpaint

LA’s Warpaint is like a living, breathing American Apparell ad. With low-fi videos dancing half-naked with sparklers and minimalistic shots. They are like beautiful hippie hedonists that kiss eachother, always have perfectly unkempt locks and body suits. And unlike most babely girl bands, their music is their redeeming quality, but should they entirely blow- at least their videos are fun to watch.

I’d like to think that this isn’t a case of Vampire Weekend, and that I genuinely enjoy the band jj because I immediately loved their stuff before I learned that they are super hip right now. I guess I’m just that cool, huh? Pshh.. you guys don’t even know. Anyway, they are a gorgeous Swedish band that recently signed to Secretly Canadian with their second album on the way. So listen to them… because everyone else is doing it.

Heartsrevolution
Is this not the cutest song you have ever heard? Alright, so heartsrevolution isn’t entirely new, but I never really gave them a listen until just recently and they’re so adorable. This video is like a poor man’s Ambling Alp meets anything LIGHTS.
Citay-
I wrote about this band a little while back, and have been meaning to share some of their stuff with you. They’re very surrealist dreamy pop. I like ‘em!
Citay- Return from Silence

Bachelorette-
Hypnotic, expansive, sweeping. They’re cyclical, enough to lull you into another consciousness and make you do things like quit smoking. But, imagine?

I’ve realized that towards the end of this post I was at a loss for words (back story.. I’m incredibly tired AND ate way too many nachos.. also Brandon and the ‘fam’ are being disruptively loud downstairs) Enjoy!!
