So the other night I watched a brilliant documentary called ‘American Movie’ (1999) profiling Milwakee filmmaker Mark Borchardt’s attempt at creating his independent film ‘Northwestern’ by completing his previous horror film ‘Coven’ with lack of funding and preparation challenging his steadfast determination to live out his American Dream. It was the most hilarious, honest and heartbreaking portrayal of an American nobody living under the illusion that he will succeed, however much we know otherwise. With a characteristic  midwestern accent, mullet and drug-induced retarted sidekick this man is a hero in his own right, speaking with urgent enthusiasm of making something of himself, leaving enough room for all the ‘goddamns’ one could need.

In celebration of Mark Borchardt and my great respect for dream-livers of all kinds, here are some songs that are entirely unrelated.
