There exists a club of musicians, imaginary of course, that are deserving of the greatest honor and privelages that they are due. They are often unrecognized, and slip under the oblivion of independent music. These cases are prized by those who love them, but the large part of their potential appreciators will never seem to find them while they listen to other, more accessible albums on repeat. I have always considered Colour Revolt to be a part of that club. They are a remarkable band from Oxford, Mississippi fronted by Jesse Coppenbarger. After losing two of the members most recently, their future is floating, but as for now, Jesse has a few tracks up on his MySpace that are magnificently creepy. The song Vrg Evl hums, ‘sweet girl why are you sleeping in the garden where my hands are creeping?’ There is a tension that lives within the purity and the doom in all of their songs, sounding a lot like laughing in another galaxy.
